An attorney in the Long Island village of East Rockaway, New York, Marc Rovner has been the general counsel and director of business development for the real estate title company BETA Abstract since 1998. One of Marc Rovner’s areas of expertise as an attorney and business leader is helping first-time home buyers and others purchase real estate with the help of government programs.

The State of New York Affordable Housing Corporation (AHC) offers grants to individuals and families who meet income restrictions and other requirements. New York State residents can apply for AHC grants to help with either home buying or repair.

The New York State AHC distributes grants through a network of 10 regions. The Mohawk Valley region, for example, covers Fulton, Oneida, Herkimer, Otsego, Montgomery, and Schoharie Counties.

Individual AHC grant applicants must seek a grantee in their particular region. Further, applicants must find a grantee that fits their project needs regarding a new construction or home improvement.
